Ahmadiyah ditentang. Genderang perang melawan organisasi yang didirikan Mirza Ghulam Ahmad di Qadian, India lebih dari 108 tahun lalu ini seperti tiada henti. Di Jakarta, ribuan orang yang menamakan diri Persatuan Umat Islam (PUI) berunjuk rasa. Mereka bahkan mengancam akan mengambil alih kekuasaan presiden jika Ahmadiyah dibiarkan hidup di negeri ini. Di daerah, organisasi-organisasi massa Islam yang tak sepaham dengan ajaran Ahmadiyah berdemonstrasi menuntut pembubaran Ahmadiyah.

Eskalasi massa dan demonstrasi menentang Ahmadiyah ini muncul dalam dua pekan terakhir ini setelah Badan Koordinasi Pengawas Aliran Kepercayaan (Bakor Pakem) Kejaksaan Agung mengeluarkan rekomendasi yang menyebut organisasi Ahmadiyah telah menyimpang dari ajaran pokok Islam yang dianut sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia. Rekomendasi itu adalah langkah negara menindaklanjuti fatwa Majelis Ulama Indonesia atas ajaran Ahmadiyah yang dinilai sesat dan menyesatkan umat Islam.
