Tersangka militan Taliban bersenjata granat dan memakai rompi bom bunuh diri, menyerang dua masjid Ahmadiyah di kota Lahore.

Pejabat-pejabat Pakistan mengatakan, tersangka militan Taliban menyerang dua masjid milik Ahmadiyah di kota Lahore, menewaskan setidaknya 80 orang.

Polisi mengatakan, kawanan bersenjata granat dan sebagian mengenakan rompi bom bunuh diri, menyerbu dua masjid utama milik Ahmadiyah tidak lama setelah sholat Jumat dimulai. Lebih dari 80 orang cedera.

Polisi dan para penyerang baku tembak di dua masjid yang terletak di dua kawasan kota Lahore yang dikenal sebagai Garhi Shahu dan Model Town. Setidaknya seorang penyerang tewas dan dua lainnya, termasuk seorang remaja, ditangkap. Menurut polisi, tiga penyerang meledakkan bom bunuh diri ketika polisi memasuki salah satu masjid.

Ahmadiyah merupakan kelompok minoritas yang menghadapi tentangan keras pada masa lalu, namun tidak pernah sehebat serangan kali ini. Pakistan, dibawah tekanan mayoritas Muslim Sunni, tahun 1970-an menyatakan Ahmadiyah bukan kelompok minoritas Islam, dan melarang mereka menyebut diri sebagai Muslim.
